Orchard Mews Playground

Baltimore, Maryland

After six months of planning, on September 30, 2016, SAGE Housing Inc. and Housing Management Resources, Inc., together with partners KaBOOM!, 100 Black Men of Maryland, Play More B’More, and DAP Products Inc., built a new playground for the Baltimore family property, Orchard Mews.  SAGE, HMR, the partners, and Orchard Mews volunteers worked collaboratively to clear away the existing structure and build the new one in its place. Local businesses, Panera Bread and Papa John’s Pizza, provided food for the volunteers.  The new playground included a slide, rock climbing wall, swings, jungle gym and other activities to provide the children of Orchard Mews with healthy outdoor exercise. SAGE works to understand residents’ needs in order to strengthen and enrich the community in which they live.

Panera Food Program

Newport Harbor Apartments

Newport News, Virginia

In June 2017, SAGE Housing Inc., in conjunction with Newport Harbor Apartments and Panera Bread LLC., provided a summer food program for the children of the Newport Harbor Apartments community. The last bell of the school year for thousands of children can signal the end of their only regularly scheduled meals. Many children receive free or reduced-price meals or snacks from after school programs, however, summer vacation can mean an end to knowing where their next meal will come from. To help ensure that no child goes hungry, SAGE, and its partner, Panera Bread, were able to make a difference by providing free breakfast and lunch every day throughout the summer to the children of Newport Harbor Apartments.
